Knitting wools, yarns and patterns from Beckside Yarns, Yorkshire (close to the border of Lancashire and Cumbria too)

Beckside Yarns & Needlecrafts is located in the beautiful conservation village of Clapham in the Yorkshire Dales. The business was originally established 7 years ago by my sister Jenny in the nearby market town of Settle, Jenny relocated the business to Clapham 3 years ago, and last year at a time of life when most people retire I bought the business.

I open 7 days-a-week from 10am-5pm and love every minute of it. To me it is perfect, I can indulge my passion for knitting plus the people I meet are all as passionate as me. Giving help and advice to a beginner brings such a sense of job satisfaction.

I have been knitting for as long as I can remember (my grandad taught me to knit) and whilst I do not run any formal workshops at the present time I have got ideas in the pipeline along the lines of hints and tips evenings ,contact me for details. I am always available to give help and advice with experienced knitters as well as beginners popping in anytime if they need help or just to have a chat.

Beckside Yarns is an Aladdin’s Cave of colour and texture; I think it is important for my customers to see how a particular yarn knits up so there are lots of sample garments on display. Some of the garments are my own designs and are for sale, or I will give you the pattern with your purchase of the yarn. When I design a garment I write the pattern for a wide range of yarns and thicknesses.

I make my own kits from simple scarves and felted bags to very wearable garments, this makes it very easy to change the colour or yarn for you.

I stock only the very best of yarns, pattern books and knitting accessories.

I am a major stockist of Noro, Araucania & Mirasol yarns and stock their full ranges. I also stock Debbie Bliss, Louisa Harding, Colinette, Brigantia, Rowan, RYC, Manos del Uruguay, and Artesano, with more being added each season. Watch out for the new organic and natural yarns making a debut in the autumn. I also have a fabulous range of sock yarns.

If you are looking for the very best quality knitting needles I stock Addi, Brittany and Pony with the full size range in fabulous Pony Rosewood Needles and Brittany Birch needles.

I am seeing a trend towards knitting with finer yarns with the Noro Kureyon 4ply and the Araucania Ranco fast becoming top sellers for garments as well as for socks.
